WHO is Invited? You are!

This is a day for leaders from CRC and RCA church and community organizations with a deep interest in strengthening the connections between the local church or churches and the work of transforming communities using an asset based approach. You are one of those!

COST:  FREE to registered attendees + Lunch is provided!
WHY NOW?

The CRC Synod 2015 made dramatic changes in the church order lifting the role of the diaconate to one that carries a strong mandate, not only for community transformation, but for being a significant agent in helping the church as a whole speak into, and act on, justice issues on a global scale. As deacons begin to gather at classes and Synod, there is opportunity to have them speak into the issues of justice, mercy, and community transformation in ways that will reinvigorate the church as a whole, as well as the communities they serve.

OUTCOMES FOR THE DAY:

By the end of the day we want to come away with a few specific outcomes:

1.) Information and clarity for you as a leader regarding the role that the church can play in being a great community neighbor with a clear transformational approach.

2.) Individual action steps that you can take back to your respective church or organization that will contribute to enhancing the role of the church in the community at a regional level.

3.) Participate in a discussion on tangible ways the denomination can support the diaconal movement of leading churches to neighboring powerfully in their community and region.

FORMAT FOR THE DAY:

— A devotional time followed by listening prayer.

— A plenary by Dr. Bethany Harris; “Biblical Foundations and Key Principles for Neighboring Well”.

— A panel presentation offering two models where community transformation is occurring plus a vision of what this could look like in 2025.

— Small group sessions focused on the three outcomes above facilitated by Dr. Bethany Harris.

— Wrap up
