World Renew and the Office of Social Justice recognize that no one person or agency even can succeed by working for justice by themselves. We value the impacts that so many local congregations make for the sake of justice. This winter, World Renew and the OSJ are able to offer up to 20 scholarships towards the registration cost of The Justice Conference, happening in Los Angeles, Friday evening February 21 through February 22.
Scholarships are available to CRC Deacons, Pastors, World Renew Ambassadors, and other volunteers who play a leadership role with their congregation in following God’s call to defend the cause of the poor, the widow, the orphan, and the alien.
The Justice Conference is a national gathering that connects Christians around a shared concern for biblical justice, the vulnerable and oppressed. Speakers include Noel Castellanos, Jenny Yang, Eugene Cho, and N.T. Wright.
Kyle Schaap, Creation Care Coordinator for the CRC Office of Social Justice, reflects on his participation at the 2013 conference. “An incredible experience. A room filled with thousands of people who are passionate about justice and right living is powerful and humbling. Perhaps the best part of the experience for me was how encouraging it was.”
“Justice work can feel lonely sometimes, but after leaving, I was reminded that Christians who are passionate about justice and reconciliation are everywhere–all working in their corner of the world to bring a little more shalom into their communities than was there before.”
Micah 6:8 says it is good to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God–this conference is an opportunity for CRC members to be inspired and to grow together in their commitment to that call.
